Garage conversion window and wall or french doors.
For a load bearing wall the header would need to be larger and supported by trimmer studs.
In fill garage door as part of the garage conversion it is likely that the original garage door will be in filled with a new wall and possibly a window or door.
In order to add an infill wall you ll need to first establish whether the garage foundations were continued beneath this opening and or the concrete slab is adequate to support the new wall.
A key part of the project may involve blocking up the existing garage door opening.
Or you can simply leave the garage door installed in the opening but build a wall or other structure that would need to be removed in order to use the space as a garage.

Often the top of the garage door is lower in height than the other doors and windows on the ground floor.
Other homeowners replace the garage door.
Some designers opt to replace the original overhead doors with sliding or french doors during a garage conversion.
This may involve digging a small trial hole in front of the concrete slab to check.
Another utility to consider during your garage conversion is the lighting within the garage.
Ask builders to fully tooth and bond the new brickwork into the old this will help blend your house exterior design better with your garage conversion.
As the foundation to the existing garage is not likely to be traditional it s probably a shallow slab a new foundation may be needed for the new wall.
Because of the garage door s existing header the new secondary door frame was a nonload bearing wall so we built the header from doubled 2 4.
